Sumter County Schools is proud to announce Angela McQuarley as the new principal of Sumter Central Elementary School.
Mrs. McQuarley brings more than 20 years of educational leadership experience and a proven track record of improving student achievement, strengthening school culture, and supporting teachers and staff. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of leadership roles, including principal, assistant principal, instructional leader, and mentor principal in the Meridian Public School District in Meridian, Mississippi.
Most recently, Mrs. McQuarley served as Principal of Meridian High School, where she helped improve the school’s academic performance and maintain a high-performing school rating. During her career, she successfully led schools through significant academic improvement, including moving schools from failing ratings to successful and high-performing status.
Her accomplishments include being named Principal of the Year for the Meridian Public School District during both the 2015–2016 and 2022–2023 school years. She has also been recognized for her leadership in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), data-driven instruction, staff development, and mentoring programs for students and educators.
Mrs. McQuarley earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Alabama, a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University, and an Associate of Arts degree from Meridian Community College.
As Sumter County Schools prepares to open Sumter Central Elementary School, district leaders are excited about the experience, leadership, and vision Mrs. McQuarley brings to the school community.
