Library Media Services

The library media center at Sumter County High is effectively addressing some of the basic service objectives of a media center. One of the objectives being addressed is providing access to information for students and staff. The library has Internet access and an established database system-- Infotrac. It also serves as a mini computer lab. Students are able to do remediation for the SAT as well as the graduation exam. They can also do word processing and desktop publishing if needed.

In order to encourage all students to read, the media center’s holdings consist of high interest books and award winning books, along with the classics, etc. The center also provides the Accelerated Reader Program to further encourage students to read. It is also completely automated which allows easy access of information. Through collaboration with teachers, every student learns to access, evaluate and use information in the media center.

The library media center has a warm welcoming environment that is conducive to learning and promotes students’ intellectual and personal growth.
