A native of Marengo County, Linden, Alabama. I attended Linden City Schools and received a B.S. degree from Alabama A & M University , Normal, Alabama. Also, M.L.S. degree from George Peabody College for Teachers (formerly George Peabody College of Vanderbelt University), Nashville, Tennessee.

Profession employment includes public library, college, university, and public school (K-12). I have been employed with the Sumter County Board of Education since August 2002, as a Librarian at Livingston High School.

I am married to a wonderful man, Eddie C. Hayes, who is employed with General Motors at the Shreveport, Louisiana Facility. Our son, Markell Grant Brown Hayes is sixteen and a 10th student at Linden High School.

We enjoy cattle farming, hunting, fishing, sports and travel.
